Studio Sessions: Monotype Printing

In this workshop, we will explore monotype, a printmaking technique combining the directness of painting and drawing with the surprising effects of printed ink on paper. Looking at the painting process found in Henry Matisse’s Woman Seated at the Piano (Femme assise devant son piano) and the loose paint application of Sam Doyle’s John Chisolem St. Helena—First Embalmer, we will explore the expressive potential of this medium.
